In the Rings of Saturn 

Events in a regular, monophonic system of rings.

From a distance, Saturn's rings present a stunning, orderly display of geometric perfection. However, as we draw nearer, the image begins to fracture, revealing a world of irregularities, knots, and shapeless forms. The closer we look, the more the original narrative is rewritten, underscoring the intricate and unpredictable nature of the creative process.

Transformations, metamorphosis, getting from somewhere to somewhere. No matter the starting point, the creation process is the essence; images of nature are only raw materials, like paper, canvas, and paint.

The initial motif or theme does not come back at all; it is only inspiration. The color and the shapes start a train of thought that leads somewhere. The process, the creation, is partly conscious, and partly, the forms, colors, and moods during the creation continue to shape the work, alternating conscious and awe-inspiring periods.

My creative process begins with a destination in mind. I search for a suitable starting point, often a photograph I've taken, and examine it to see if it aligns with my vision. This initial image guides me, leading me in my imagined direction.

Sometimes, I approach, and I approach again, and I approach again and again. The original image motif loses its information content and fills itself with entirely different, new information through me.

During the COVID shutdown, the Architect was walking home from Zugló, the print shop across Heroes Square, when he suddenly fell out into the universe in the afternoon sun and found himself between the rings of Saturn. He was amazed at how colorful it was up close. Somehow, he saw the colors of Heroes Square coming back, which was a little strange: orange, red, and green.

A Szaturnusz gyűrűiben

Történések a gyűrűk, szabályos, egyhangú rendszerében.

A Szaturnusz gyűrűi messziről szép szabályos, látványos geometriai ábrák, de ahogy közelebb kerülünk a Szaturnusz gyűrűihez, a képben kisebb-nagyobb hibák jelennek meg. Szabálytalanságok, csomók, hullámok, alaktalan alakzatok. Közelítve minden szétesik, a részletes kép átírja az eredeti történetet.

Átalakulások. Metamorfózis. Valahonnan valahová eljutni. Mindegy mi a kiindulás, az alkotás folyamata a lényeg, a természet képei csak nyersanyagok, olyanok mint a papír, a vászon, a festék.

A kezdeti motívum, téma egyáltalán nem köszön vissza, az csak inspiráció, a szín, a formák elindítanak egy gondolatmenetet, ami valahová eljut. A folyamat, az alkotás részben tudatos, részben az alkotás közbeni formák, színek, hangulatok alakítják tovább a művet, váltogatva a tudatos és a rácsodálkozós periódusokat.

Van, hogy tudom hova akarok eljutni, és ehhez keresek megfelelő kiindulást, és a kiindulást jelentő képben, ami legtöbbször egy fotóm, már azt keresem, hogy az elvisz-e az általam elképzelt irányba.

Van, hogy közelítek, és megint közelítek, és megint közelítek, és megint, és az eredeti kép, motívum elveszti az információtartalmát, és egészen más, új információval töltti meg saját magát, általam.

Az Építész a Covid lezárás idején éppen hazafelé sétált gyalog Zuglóból, a nyomdából a Hősök terén át, amikor a délutáni napsütésben hirtelen kizuhant az univerzumba, és a Szaturnusz gyűrűi közt találta magát. Elcsodálkozott, hogy az milyen színpompás közelről. Valahogy a Hősök tere színeit látta visszaköszönni, amit furcsált kicsit. Narancs, vörös, meg zöldek.
